Historical Sketch

The biography is lacking most important information, which are needed in order to complete that portion of the finding aid-- Biographical Sketch.

In 1944, Samuel L. Davis filed in the District Court of the United States for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta, in behalf of himself and other Negro teachers and principals in the Atlanta Public School System, claiming that the defendent over a long period of years had consistently pursued and maintained a policy of paying Negro teachers and principals less salary than white teachers and principals, even though they possessed the same qualifications, certifications, experiences and were exercising the same duties as the Negro teachers and principals.

I have conducted further research from several library sources, hoping to find something written about Mr. Davis, but I found nothing relevant about him. At any rate, my search is continued, and a "Biographical Sketch" will be processed as soon as one is available.
