Biographical / Historical

Sisters of Today and Tomorrow (SOT) was a nonprofit organization founded by Carla Morrison as as a direct result of community programs produced by Chit Chat Communications Company, a division of "C. Morrison Presents...". The official launch took place on October 1st of 2008, in Atlanta, Georgia. The New Haven, Connecticut chapter was developed in March of 2010. Carla Morrison traveled back and forth between the 2 chapters to conduct SOT workshops and programs. After reading about SOT, Sabrina Mack and Angela Bunting, decided to develop the Charlotte Chapter of SOT along with Carla Morrison.

The mission of SOT was to raise the consciousness of women and children through innovative programs that focused on self esteem, education, health and fitness and careers/entrepreneurship. The goal of SOT was to teach girls how to become self-assured, polite, productive, goal -oriented, health conscious, community driven, well rounded business savvy young leaders and women.

There were three signature programs used to share the mission and acheive the goals of SOT. First, there was the Sisters of Tomorrow Leadership Conferences which consisted of workshops focusing on the goals of SOT. The conference was geared toward girls 9-18 years of age and the mother/mother figure in their lives. Second was the women's history month celebration called "Celebrating Women of Color". These events geared toward women ages 21-45 and their families involved keynote speakers, entertainment and more. Third, was symposium series called "After the Party, What's the Plan". This program promoted higher education and entrepreneurship through panel discussions with industry leaders. This program was geared for both boys and girls, 9-26 years of age.

In addition, there were after school programs and Mentoring Programs providing a support system which included participating in activities outside the standard SOT curriculum.

A book about the organization was published in 2012. "WE ARE THE Village" is a collection of the letters from parents, presenters and mentors connected with SOT, and essays and stories from the SOT members about their experiences. The book was compiled and edited by the organization's founder, Carla Morrison.
