Historical Sketch
James D. Pitts, Jr. (1914-1984) was born in Milledgeville, Ga. He was the only child of James D. Pitts, Sr. and Annabelle Ellison, who moved to Atlanta in 1920. Marian Darden (1912-1997) was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was the last of eight children born to Ida Darden. Jimmy and Marian met in Atlanta, Georgia in 1934. They later married and had three children, Marian, Joyce and James (III).
