Scope and Contents note

From the Sub-Series:

Henry N. Brown, Vice President and Secretary, began his career in insurance with Western Mutual Life Insurance Company in Dallas, Texas. In 1941 when Western Mutual was absorbed by Atlanta Life, Brown joined the company, moving to its main office in Atlanta. Following in the tradition of Norris Herndon, company president and son of the founder, Brown obtained a master's degree in business administration from Harvard University. He then became assistant secretary serving under Secretary Eugene Martin and ultimately assumed the investment responsibilities of Walter Smith, who died in 1972. Active in the community, Brown was a member of First Congregational Church and a trustee of the Carrie Steele Pitts Home and Big Brothers of Atlanta. The Brown files record the investments and other financial operations of the company. They consist also of personnel matters and construction records of the home office building completed in 1980.
