Scope and Contents note

Dr. James D. Palmer, a native of Sumter, South Carolina, and a graduate of Fisk University and Meharry Medical School, was appointed medical director of Atlanta Life Insurance Company in 1968. A prominent physician in internal medicine, Dr. Palmer opened his practice in.Atlanta in 1962. He was also the personal physician of Atlanta Life president, Norris Herndon, and the son-in-law of Eugene Martin, vice president and secretary of the company. Contained in this small collection of the files of Dr. James D. Palmer are records created by and received by the Medical Department from 1967 to 1985, the bulk of the materials generated in the 1970s.
