Cox Broadcasting Corporation/GE Merger, Before the Federal Communications Commission, 1979
Scope and Contents note
Series 13, Press and Publicity/Public Relations/Media Committee, documents activities about implementing cable television in Atlanta, the Federal Communications Commission, minority ownership and employment in media outlets, and the Branch's publicity activities and news releases. Of particular note is the Branch's involvement in the lawsuit against a Cox Communications and General Electric merger in the late 1970s, which would have created a media monopoly conglomerate. Also included are monitoring activities of Atlanta's radio and television stations employment practices with statistics of positions held by minorities.
