Scope and Contents
The Whatley and Whatley Construction Company Records consist of administration documents (1952-1992) and 38 architectural site plans (1940 to 1987), showcasing various projects across Atlanta, Georgia. The plans include housing developments such as John Hope Homes, Bowen Homes and Collier Heights, as well as commercial and recreational structures like bank offices, stores, bowling alleys, churches, and town clubs. Additionally, there are mine shaft plans, renovation plans, property maps, electrical layouts, and construction schedules. The administration documents include receipts, contracts, reports, forms, correspondences, estimates, bylaws of affiliated organizations, ledgers, journals, and bid documents. These bid documents are general conditions, forms, detailed specifications, and description of materials for the construction projects undertaken by the company. The collection’s printed and published materials contains home builder catalogs and a Distomap.
