Biographical / Historical

J. Edgar Thomson was one of the leading civil engineers and railroad executives of the nineteenth century. As chief engineer and third president, he made the Pennsylvania Railroad one of America's largest and best-run busineess corporations.

Scope and Content Note From the Collection: The Archives Map collection consists of printed maps of Africa, the Caribbean Islands, the World and the United States. There are approximately four hundred and thirty-five (435) items which were published between 1542 and 1987 by well known cartographers such as Sebastian Munster, Abraham Ortelius, and Williem Blaeu.
