Biographical/Historical Note

Mr. Otis Dennis Howard is a native of Atlanta, went to school at Southwest High School in Atlanta. Mr. Howard cannot remember when he was not drawing. While in High School he became cartoonist for school paper, The Howl. He attended DeKalb Technical School and Art Institute of Atlanta majoring in Commercial Art. He held positions as paste-up artist did freelance artwork and for a period of time, drew caricatures of visitors to Six Flags Over Georgia. He has been editorial cartoonist for the Lithonia News. For a number of years his comic strips and editorial cartoons have been regular features of the Atlanta News Weekly. He also created his own comic strips, " Cool Willie" which has run for several years locally. Currently Mr. Otis Dennis Howard lives in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

The collection contains: One hundred twenty-five (125) 12" X 19" black and white comic strips, Forty-seven (47) 7 X 16" (black and white) comic strips, and One (1) 8¾" X 22" (black and white) comic strips of "Cool Willie"; Fifteen (15) 11½" X 17" comic strips draft; Fourteen (14) 14" X 17" (black and white) comic strips of "Hidden History"; One (1) folder of correspondence and galley proofs of manuscripts entitled Hidden History: The Omitted True Story of Black People.
